It really seems like, my whole life, Katara’s been the one looking out for me. She’s always been the one that’s there.

ATLA + LoK Continuity: Irohs Spiritual Enlightenment
Uncle Iroh was always very spiritually connected. As we can see in ATLA when he is taken captive by Earth Kingdom soldiers he is the only one in the group to see Aang and Fang (Rokus spirit dragon) go flying by in the spirit world. This puts him in his own category of spiritual enlightenment we don’t see in anyone else throughout the rest of the series.
As a testament to this, we find out in LoK that Iroh left his physical body to live out his life accompanying the spirits in the spirit world. This is something that sets Iroh aside from every other ATLA character in that he was so at balance with himself he could not only enter the spirit world but live there too. The only other characters we see from ATLA that are still living on in the spirit world are Zhao whos soul is trapped in the Fog of Lost Souls and the Avatars. That’s how important of a character he is.
Personal Stuff Disclaimer: As a tribute to me pushing myself to finally learn to make GIF’s im going to be adding to the continuity and parallels in the fandom as often as I can :D I’m happy to say I already have a notepad full of ideas!
